I recently just bought a UDM for doing some light polishing and for using AIO's with. I have only used a makita rotary. I found that while polsihing with the UDM the vibration is just horrible. Is this normal. Also it is bearable below speed 4 but anything after that my whole arms just vibrate and at speed 6 it feels like after a day of polishing I would have none some seriouse harm to mhyself. Will E-Shine refund me my purchus?

Yes, that is typical of the UDM. Before getting the Flex I would only polish with the UDM and after 6-8 hours of polishing at speed 5 or 6, my hand would end up numb, weak and feeling as if I had a really bad case of arthritis (for up to 3 days). Now that I have a Flex, I only use my UDM to apply an LSP or polish tight spots with a 4'' pad. Oh, I also use it with brush attachments, but never for full polishing jobs anymore.

If you are used to using a Makita why go with the UDM? Seems like taking a step back to me...well just wondering that's all. DA's have a purpose but I rather use a rotary.

As far as eShine refunding you...not sure how that's going to go but worth asking, you never know

The UDM has much tighter and harsher vibrations than a PC, especially on speed 6. The PC vibrates a lot but not as harsh / intense.

Nica, In the past I used a rotary because I worked for a detailing company while in high school. Now that i'm just getting into having my own clients, I was a little weary about the "what if" I burn a customers paint. But after this experience with a DA polisher, I am defently going back to the roatary.

MMmmm defently interesting to hear. That would make sence because it looks like the orbit housing on the UDM is a larger diameter

I have in the past. It just seems like you go though sooo much more product than with a D/A polisher

That's the downfall with DA... I'm used to it though, well since I've started with the UDM . One time during use, my arms felt like "vomiting". Lol I don't know how else to explain it.

If you are concerned about using a rotary on a client's vehicle, but you don't like the UDM, I recommend the Flex.

Best thing to do is contact the manufacturer, their info is on and in the box. They are very good and if they agree to replace/refund the machine, they will simply credit us for a unit then I can refund it. If I simply refund the purchase without you contacting them,I can not resell the unit and will be out on the cost.
