Well...had the day off today so I decided to play with my new toys from ADS...up for review was M105 compound and also used my new flex 3403 with megs easy buff backing plate (basically meg's version of the 3m backing plate)
Well before we get to the M105 my quick impressions of the 3403 and easy buff backing plate...all i can say is definitely a killer combo...the flex was very ergonomic and made buffing quite easy...and the easy buff backing plate made compounding and final polishing that much easier....the backing plate was definitely work the 20 bucks!! okay now onto the M105!!! all i did was compound two hoods and a trunk on two separate test cars...both had minor to severe swirling in different spots and RIDS everywhere.... Befores...... ![]() ![]() ![]() Red truck hood ![]() Lexus trunk: ![]() After one pass with M105 and wool pad...can you guess which part of the hood got compounded? ![]() The hazing is not that bad for just the compound step...which to me is the best part of M105...it finishes at a level you know when you reach for your finishing polish you will end up with a fantastic finish ![]() Followed up with 106FA and a coat of liquid souveran ![]() The Lexus trunk after M105, SIP, and 106FA ![]() Money shot of the hood...dont mind the bazillion rock chips/dirty lens ![]() Sooo...the verdict? M105 is a MUST HAVE...I made sure to work in full sun for the Lexus trunk and the hood of the red truck and it really wasn't that finicky...in shade it works flawlessly...the dusting was very minimal...and it really does finish close to lsp ready....the biggest thing is it does most of its work in one pass...like literally a 20 second pass across the paint...finish breaking it down for another 30 seconds and most if not all medium or less defects are removed...on deeper swirls that don't require wet sanding 2 full passes with M105 will pretty much knock them out to a level SIP and 106ff can easily handle....i would say 90 percent of defects finish out to a level that you could finish up right away with 106ff....Megs definitely has a winner with M105... |

I was reading on another site that even with a PC, M105 gave really good results...i think it is just that good of a compound...people say it gums up very easy..and have been mixing it with a medium abrasive polish to combat that...
I have a flex DA and i am just wondering if i can get good results from this compound using a yellow or orange LC foam pad....... |

Great results!
Also a good tip w/ M105 is to NOT apply any pressure. Just let the machine do the work. Picking up the M105 off of the paint w/ your spinning pad instead of applyinig the M105 to the pad will also provide better results. You wil have less clumping of product on the pad and on the paint. Clean your pad often, I use both sides of the edge yellow wool for a panel, then I clean the pad with my system 2k pad washer. I have not found any paint yet that I can't follow M105 with a finishing polish like ultrafina. Like they say, I am still searching. ![]() |
