Detailing Bliss Pro Detailer Announcement
Well we have yet another member who has steped up to the Pro level, I'm happy to say that my good friend FMINUS has decided to make the leap. Here is an interview that was conducted with the intention to get to know FMINUS better, that is if you don't know FMINUS already, enjoy.
Lets start off with telling us a little about your self?
I am 27, married with a 3 month old baby! Detailing is a hobby for me aside from my full time job as an Investment Banker.
How many vehicles do you own and drive and how often are they detailed?
I own a 08 M5, 05 NSX, 05 TSX, and a 08MDX. I almost got my grubby hands on a GTR, but the dealer changed the terms of the sale by 10K so I had to drop it. How often are they detailed? Prob once a year now, I don’t have enough time.
What is your childhood dream vehicle and why?
My childhood dream car has always been an NSX, and my first was in 2000. I just loved the looks of it at the time, and I still do after almost 20 years later.
What got you started in to detailing?
When I owned my black 2000 NSX (Back in 1999) I realized there were “scratches” all over the finish, I took it to a detailer and I ended up with a shiny car with scratches all over. I asked if they can be removed and the detailer said no. So I went online w my 14.4k modem and started doing some research of my own…. Thus began the addiction.
How long have you been detailing at the Pro level?
I don’t feel I am at the “pro” level yet. This is still a hobby for me, and I am just so glad that I finally found a hobby that can pay for itself. (almost)
How did you learn to machine polish?
Practice practice practice. OrngeZ walked me through the steps of the rotary among a plethora of detailing tricks when I first got started, he was my first teacher. Then I picked up things here and there from all you fine members on this forum!
What was your first machine rotary or DA?
Porter Cable!
Can you recall your first Pro detail?
I really cant… haha
Do you have a favorite vehicle to detail and why?
I love to correct BMWs, at first I thought they were a paint because of the hard paint, but now Im so familiar with the panels and paint types that correction is a breeze. My favorite vehicle to detail with a disclaimer is the C6 Vette. I think its well known Im not a fan of domestic vehicles but the C6 Vette has beautiful lines, I fell in love with the design of the vehicle after doing the first one. The reason its NOT my favorite vehicle to detail because of its “clear of death”.
Wax or Sealant?
Im in the same boat as JL, I love both, I think they both has its purposes and its hard to say which one is better. But the majority of the time I do use both at the same time.
What is your favorite Wax and why?
Zymol Vintage. For its looks! Why else! (I also have a couple of other high end waxes coming in so this might change!)
What is your favorite Sealant and why?
I like Jetseal109, I personally like the looks over other sealants, it’s the only sealant that provides a similar look to a Carnauba. Zaino comes in a close second and is even better for some applications. (Yes I said it)
What is your favorite colour to detail and why?
FLAT Black, is there another color?
Do you like Soccer? What’s your favorite team?
Whats Soccer?
Where do you go to relax/holidays?
I love staying at home with the family, but living in SOCAL my wife and I and the baby spend most of the “off” times at Disneyland with our unrestricted season passes!
Do you like walks on the beach? (you have to answer this one!!!!)
Asian people and beaches don’t mix. (Yes I know I live in SOCAL)
Welcome to the Pro level FMINUS, look forward to more of your details.
