![]() Well I'm pleased to announce that Detailing Bliss has a fifth sponsor, Rubbish Boy. I'm pleased about the fifth sponsor, one of the reasons is that Rubbish Boy resides in the UK and I'm a big fan of the UK products and detailers. I have learned a great deal of things from the UK detailers and have had the opportunity to try many items from the UK that have now become key items in my personal detailing arsenal/collection. Having a Detailing Bliss Certified Dealer located in the UK makes ordering items from the UK much easier. Welcome to the DB Certified Dealer title Rubbish Boy, great to have you here and I look forward to the future. Now, as usual an interview is conducted with the intention to better acquaint our selves with the new addition to the forum, here is an interview with Rubbish Boy (Ben). Tell us a little about your self? Well my real name is Ben, I’m 35 years old, married with two children. I live in Okehampton, Devon in the UK where the weather can be very temperamental. I would say I have been into detailing for a long time, 15+ years, but never knew that’s what it was. I have always kept my cars cleaner then my friends and relatives, in fact most of them mocked me for the time spent on my cars. I discovered Detailing World a few years ago realized I wasn’t alone and it was (quite) normal, and finally had other people to share ideas and learn from. How was Rubbish Boy born? What inspired you to start the business? Rubbish Boy was just a silly forum username I made up, I just stuck with it on various forums. It’s supposed to be a super hero sidekick name, like fallout boy (from the Simpsons). The business came about from me experimenting with making some wax. Dom from Dodo Juice (Dodo Factory) offered some help with some ideas and recipes. I had a play and ended up with something quite useable, although less refined than a commercial wax. Dom also tried it and was excited enough by it to suggest that it should be released to the general public. Obviously I needed a way to sell the wax so Rubbish Boy’s Carnauba Wax Shop was born. Initially just the wax I had made and the Dodo Juice waxes, then overtime added a few more products. Dodo Juice also took the Original Edition recipe and refined it, replaced some of the ingredients with commercial ingredients and came up the commercial version of my wax, Juiced Edition. Anyone who has tried both waxes, will know that they are very different waxes, despite sharing the same basic wax content. What piece of detailing kit do you think every detailer should have in their arsenal? (excluding the obvious stuff like wash mitts etc.) For me it’s a machine polisher, doesn’t matter what type or brand (as long as it’s good), but it is most definitely an essential tool if you are trying to achieve the ultimate finish. What are your current favorite brands and why? All the brands I sell really. My favorites at the moment: love Supernatural, love Mark V Mystique, love Bilt-Hamber clays, and of course love RB Original. What do you do on your spare time? Detail my cars (obviously), spend time with the family, play a bit of Wii. Read a few forums. What are the future plans for the store? First and foremost I’m working on making it calculate shipping costs for the US and Canada, just for you guys, to make it easier and quicker for us all. I’m always on the look out for new products and suppliers, but I have an essential criteria for every product that goes on, and that is I have to like using it myself. I also have a couple of new RB products that are currently work in progress, more on them when they have been perfected. |
