Default What's up everyone?

Just joined up here, adding another to the list of forums that I have to pay attention to daily.

The great thing about this place though is that at first glance it seems to be much nicer than the other detailing forum that I have been spending time on, which is a good thing. Not only does everyone seem friendlier and more susceptible to new ideas, but I think the caliber of detailer here seems to be higher as well.

So greeting to everyone and I will do my best to make a really positive contribution.

Here's a pic from a detail I did a few weeks ago just to get my street cred moving. HA HA HA.

Jonathan

I don't know what you said but how did you know I love Ferrari's okay who told you hahahaha

No but seriously that's my future car right there, same colour as well just a few more months...

Welcome to Detailing Bliss J_Edwards

I've been reading some of your posts and I've enjoyed your posts, informative but most importantly new ideas/new ways of doing things. Look forward on reading more posts from you

As for the forum lay out, glad you like it and the atmosphere..well glad you noticed the difference, but I keep saying this (I Must sound like a broken record) the forum is only as good as it's members

Oh almost forgot, what's the LSP on that Ferrari?

Welcome to the forums Jonathan. Looking forward to your details and by the judge of that photo, looks like you have a nice track record so far

What was your process / what did you use for everything?

Car was bought from Penske Wynn and driven from Vegas to Beverly Hills. It was detailed by Penske Wynn before being purchased, but when the owner got to Cali he decided to wash it himself. He used the "Mr. Clean Spotless Wash" which was anything but spotless. So...I had to correct all the water spots, but didn't have to do any deeper correction since Penske Wynn was nice enough to actually polish the car to a very acceptable state.

Wash: ONR
Car was washed with ONR and an Ultimitt, wheels were cleaned with ONR and a few Costco MF towels. Tires were cleaned with Simple Green.

Polishing:
Since I was only removing light water spots a combo of Megs #83 and Ultrafina was all that was needed. Some spots only needed Ultrafina to achieve 100% correction, others needed a little bit more. The rear valence, rear bumper, and rear CF vent all needed to be polished fully, it look almost like Penske Wynn forgot about them.

Combos - All polishing was done with my Porter Cable Rotary with a 3M Perfect-It backing plate. Ultrafina was with the European 3M Blue finishing pad. Megs #83 was with a Megs Yellow Solo pad. Rear section was polished with Megs 105 with the Megs yellow Solo pad and finished with Ultrafina.

After polishing the whole car got a prep-sol wipedown to remove any remaining polishing oils and any potential previous dealer glazes. When I achieved the correction I wanted over the whole car, which was verified with a combo of sunlight, my Fenix TK10, and halogens, the car was prepped with HD Cleanse and then waxed with Vintage.

Interior was cleaned with a 6:1 mix of Woolite and water. Prep-sol was used to remove glue backing from the pointless airbag warning stickers on the leather visors. All glass was cleaned with Stoners IG, tires were dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing cut to give a semi matte finish rather than a high gloss. Engine bay was cleaned with a Costco MF soaked in ONR, although aluminum polish was used to clean the throttle bodies, misc alum parts, and polish the exhaust. Rubber and plastics were carefully hand dressed with 303.

Cliff Notes:
Wash: ONR
Polishing: Megs 105, Megs #83, Ultrafina
Misc: Stoners IG, Woolite Mix, Megs Hyper Dressing

Here are some other pics of the detail.

Enjoy...

hmmm...just a question, maybe I'm mistaken but I thought the 3M Backing Plate was only for rotary? Or is there a 3M Backing Plate that fits the Porter Cable? Oh please don't take offense to my question, not trying to be rude in any way, I've just never seen a 3M Backing Plate for the Porter Cable and if there is one that would be sweet

Doh sorry I just read it again and you said Porter Cable ROTARY doh sorry my bad I just read the Porter Cable part my bad

Oh by the way the pictures look good, what camera and lense are you using?
