Default Ace Power Sticks

Has anyone other than DD used these? They look interesting... but if you were to choose only 2 of them, which ones would you get?

Hey, Dust, I used mine this weekend doing the wheels on my car. Phil coerced (j/k) into buying the whole set. I did my A6 yesterday with the 401 as the brake caliper is pretty close to the wheel drum. The 401 is by far the skinniest than the rest, so I would defeinitely recommend the 401. Needless to say, I still couldn't get it in between. However, with it's long reach I was able to bend it around the caliper and get most of the wheel behind it.

I was using my Bosch 14.4v with it which seemed like plenty of horsepower. I pre-mixed a small bucket of Adam's carwash and water as well. When washing, I start by doing wheel wells and tires, and then spraying some P21s gel on and let it soak in until I finish the rest of wheel wells / tires the same way. I came back to do the wheels and used a boar's hair brush for the wheel facings. Then took the Bosch (w/ 401 attached), dipped into Adam's wash and proceeded to do the inside of wheels. I was able to curve it behind the spokes with a little experimenting and messing with forward and reverse on the drill. Reached all the way back on the wheel without an issue. The flaps on it were going to town! It did a real nice job of eliminating brake dust, but still nothing going to take care of some of the caked on tar or other grime built up back there without removing the wheels.

I used the 401 on my Allroad today and had a lot greater clearance between the caliper and wheel. The Allroad wheels really turned out nice. The inside wheels looked really good. I had no concerns with scratching the wheels at all with the white plastic piece holding the flaps. I would do in between a spoke or two and then re-dunk in my Adam's wash. Also, did the Allroad wheels the same way with P21s gel let sitting for 10-15 minutes/wheel. Does it beat using my little soft bristled Mr. Clean brush back in there? Hell's yes. Would you need to buy all of them? Probably not. Factually, I just took some pics of them, so let me get them uploaded and I'll do another post w/ pics.

Ok, here's my follow-up with pics.

1st up are all 6 of them lined up next to each other. I really wish I could've found a pic like this when researching them.



From left to right, they are 401, 501, 601, 602, 603, & 604.

Here's a couple of shots trying to show rod thickness between all 6.

Like I said, you probably really don't need all of them. If I had to choose only two, it would be the 401 (obviously for smaller footprint), and probably the 601 for them fancy big wheels where you have a lot of troom to work between spokes. Here's a pic of the 401 and 601 side by side:

I just tried mine today, the 602 and I loved it. It definitely cleaned a lot better than the EZ brush. In fact, I did one wheel with the easy brush until it got as clean as it could. I then used the Ace on that same wheel and to my surprise, a heck lot more grime came out. I love this thing. I plan to get the 401 or 501 as well for the tight spots. I probably should have gotten the 601, but the 602 worked well. I would say the 401 and 601/602 are a good combo.

I got and used the 603 this weekend. Really nice, and I think is the most useful. I'll be doing a better review shortly. I do want to add the 401 to my collection.

Unless you have really wide wheels, I don't think you need the 601 or 602. IMHO of course.

And my wash water was FILTHY afterwards, unlike I've ever seen cleaning wheels.

My one question yet, is to use it on low or high speed on my Makita drill. Fast really spits stuff around if you're not super careful. Slow seemed, well, a little slow.

Yeah, my rinse bucket for it had some nasty looking water when I poured it out.

As for speed, I put my Bosch on speed 2 (higher speed), set it to drill for torque, and let'er rip. Yeah, it did spallter around a little, but I usually have on my "detailing clothes" out there, such as 5 year old beer t-shirts and shorts for $10 from Costco.

Bumpity Bump.

I have the 401 and 601 already.

Want to add a fatter brush one for even larger clearances.
Debating between the 602 vs 603.

Bearing the diameter of the rod is the same, re: just moving/angeling /etc ---- what do you guys think, add the 602 or 603 for someone who was the 401 and 601 already...

I'm like 50/50 on both and DON'T ....ahem to make any more xcuses to buy any more tools than I really need.
