Wheel Wells, Rims and Tires Rims, wheel wells and tires make a bold statement for the appearance of the vehicle, do you know how to properly detail these key components? Would you like to learn?

Hello,

Yes this is the cleaner. I usually use it cut half with water as the strength is just fine but gives me more dwell time.

I only use it on new details as my regulars clean up with soap and water.

Great information for all of us, thanks Anthony.

How was the "mud rain" that occured in San Antonio recently? Lots of business from that?

None taken
If I had been doing those wheels I would have used TOL's Wheel Wash which is an acid but it works with Oxalic not Hydrofluoric acid. Spray it on and let it dwell for several minutes, perhaps some agitation and then hit it with a power washer and in 5 minutes you would be at that stage you are now.
I understand, however in post # 18 I did state the rims are scratched, chipped and pitted that is exactly why I did not use an acid based products.
You may have some residual stuff left over but a second application should have removed the remaining areas.

As long as the wheels are not cracked, peeling or uncoated aluminum the acid is safe.....BUT as with any acid use gloves and try to avoid inhaling the fumes when first applied.
This is good in formation, however it is not for the process for these rims.
Again I don't mean to come across as putting you down just trying to help and inform for the next wheels you come across like this. They do look 100% better but I'm also sorry you had to go through that much work.
There is no need for you to be sorry! I choose this car to test products and processes. I was loving every minute of it! You guys might think I am but to me it is pure fun! I am enjoying all the effort

if you just used straight wheel acid dilluted a little with water it would get those things lookn real good and save alot of time. just spray like two or 3 of the grooves at a time and scrub in side of them real good and not let the acid sit long an make sure you rinse of completely and not leave any acid behind to dry you will be find. If your not comfortable with using wheel acid then thats fine but its going to take you a alot and i mean alot longer and like someone said find a junk rim and practice cause once you learn how to properly use wheel acid you could have a 4 of those rims clean in 30min.

Thanks Bac1033 I appreciate the information. However for now... I just don't feel confident enough for acid. I can be dangerous (OK.... a dig bat) at times and well.. I just don't think it is for me right now Thanks anyway
