Default Mothers red powerball on painted wheels?

Hi,

I was wondering can i use the mothers powerball (the red one) on painted wheels.

On their website they say that the powerball is to polish uncoated wheels.

Feedback please.

Thanks

I bought one of those and have yet to use it. I like DG 501 on painted wheels (Klasse would work well too) followed by a sealant ( I use DG 105). I'd be afraid of using it on a painted surface.

If your painted wheels are clearcoated, this was a comment by Mothers:

The PowerBall is intended for use with the specified polish for the surface of the wheel... be that chrome (e.g., our Chrome Polish), bare metal (e.g., our PowerMetal, Mag & Aluminum and/or Billet Polish), or clearcoated/painted (our old Clearcoat Wheel Polish or Plastic Polish since wheels have a plasticized clearcoat). Sometimes it may be necessary to mask different surfaces before using the PowerBall, for example, with a modular wheel that has a billet rim and a painted center.

As always, it pays to test if you have any doubts. You can ask at the Mothers site too but you should identify the wheels to be sure.

Are these powerballs any good? I see them in car magazines all the time but it looks a little.... odd.... especially hooking it up to a standard drill.

I love them i use it to a corded drill and their great for applying polish to wheels and they really work them in more than you can by hand.

I use it on my painted & cleared BBS wheels and it works great for those angles that I can't get to

I recently tried the Powerball Mini and didn't care for it. The foam is more rigid than I anticipated and maneuvering it with the drill was awkward. Additionally, I had difficulty getting it into tight corners and still had to polish a good portion of my wheels with some elbow grease and foam applicator. I've also heard many individuals have problems with durability; supposedly the foam tears easily.
