Default Wheel protection?

Is there any real reason to use products such as sealants or wheel sealants or even wax on your wheels, to have them just be gone the next time you clean the wheels?

I was thinking of using collinite 845 or DG105 on my wheels, but then I assume that any sort of wheel cleaner, or even just using a wheel brush on them, will most likely get rid of any protection?

Whats the general consensus on wheel protection?

845 and 105 are both great products to use on rims...

I use them for easier maint.

Once applied, road grime, brake dust etc basically rinse off with a hose. Anything that does not come off with a hose will come off with your normall car wash solution.

This is a great upsell to customers that want to keep clean rims but dont come to you every week, once they realize how easy it is for them to clean their own rims they will begin to ask for it

joe if you wax your wheels then i wouldnt use any wheel cleaners for a while. just soap and water. any cleaners will likely strip off any wax.

I use DG 105 or 104 on my wheels...even used collinite ..and I found that they do not need any harsh chemicals to clean them..just soap and water...I apply a coat monthly to just keep them up...I spray them with AW after a wash...no break dust problems...

I have tried a few of the so called wheel waxes..and found that a good paint sealant works as good if not better...any thing like Klasse..Collinite...Zaino...Jeffs..DG...CG 109..all work well...

The idea of applying a sealant/wax to your wheels is so that you don't have to use a wheel cleaner or brush. If you use those things, then you are defeating the purpose of applying the sealant/wax.

one of the primary reasons for treating wheels is that if brake dust and grime sits on them for any extended period of time it will eat the top coat on the wheels and you will begin to get noticable pits/blemishes in the rim. So not only is it a protectant on the wheels, future cleaning of the wheels is incredibly easier.

The above is especially true on German cars who have excessive break dust. BMW's are the absolute worst.

those are SILVER wheels lol

I may give the DG105/Collinite a try when I pull the wheels of soon, but I dont think its going to be something I will continually do, too much of a PITA.

Aquawax has been working well so far for me for keeping the wheel faces shiny and cleaner for longer.
