Default wetsanding scratch's.

Had my hood resprayed and the guy who did it sucks at buffing. I put it on today and there are TONS of wetsanding scratchs left all over the hood. I tryed to tackle it with my porter cable 7442 but i dont think i have the supplys to make a dent. I went at it with orange pad and some ssr2 and it did nothing. Then i tryed orange pad with optium polish and same thing nothing. I also notice there is extremely small white spec's in the hood that will not come off either. Im trying to correct it but i may just bring it back and tell them to deal with it. What products do you suggest i use? He said he used 2000grit paper. Can the Pc even touch this or is this a job for a rotary? thanks

You will need a rotary to properly correct the marks. You will need to go back and wet sand over the scratches that were made during the wet sanding. The scratches were made from debris under the paper when sanding so they will need to wet sanded out.

Sometimes you can do it with the PC. In my experience with Lexus/Toyota and BMW Jet Black paints, it was easy to do with a 4in orange pad and some Powergloss. You just had to finish it down with something to remove the haze thats all

It just depends on how hard the paint, etc it is but it IS possible given the right conditions

Are you sure the scratches aren't under the clear coat?

I too was wondering if maybe the wet sanding marks were under the clear coat. Interesting how it comes down to prep work huh

Keep us posted on how you make out

If there is sanding marks under the clear he still needs to take the hood back to get corrected.

I dont think there under the clear. I had the hood on my truck for a month or so and brought it back to them so they could wetsand some of the orange peel out. When i got the hood back you couldl see in some areas were he didnt buff out some of the wetsanding mark's. Then in other areas it looks awesome.

I'd see if the body shop will fix it for you.... no point trying to buff out someone elses errors if you don't need to.
