Default Am I storing my wax/sealant correctly?

I live just outside Sacramento, and it has been 110 degrees the last couple of days. I have always kept my high end wax's in my wine room dialed in at 57 degrees, but now I am thinking I should keep my expensive sealants, and pre-wax cleaners in the wine room as well. The last time I went and checked on my sealants and pre-wax cleaners they seemed pretty liquidy and runny. I figured heat cant be good, so I decided to keep them in the the wine room as well.

My question to you guys is am I correct with my observation? Is it a good idea to keep my wax, sealants, and pre-wax cleaners in the wine room at 57 degrees? Is it going to hinder or hurt any of my products, or is it the best possible thing to do?

also

Can you think of anything else that should stay out of the heat like clay or something?

I really want to make sure I am not doing more harm than good. I really appreciate all the info and comments I am sure I will receive once this thread is posted!

Thanks everyone!

Jared

As far as I understood waxes and such products are best to be stored in a wine cooler or what I cal wine temperature, no humidifier as they will only deteriorate the products, now as far as what temperature to keep them at, to be honest I can't remember the exact temperature.

I'll be purchasing a wine cooler for my entire wax collection, as for clay and other products I guess it depends on the product. I mean clay shouldt be temperate dependent but you never know. Up to this day I've kept all my detailing items inside my house down in the basement and during winter all items were stored just fine, during summer I have to move all my waxes from the basement as it gets to hot and to a cooler area...but like I said I haven't taken exact temperature readings to see what temperature is best for all the detailing items.

Well sorry if I'm not much help just my though

Thanks for the info! I plan on buying a wine refrigerator/cooler soon as well to keep in the garage. I just hate walking inside the house in the middle of a detail to get my products.

Anyway, thanks for the input. I feel a lot more confident now. I just wanted to make sure that I am not doing any harm.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I leave all my waxes (LSP) products in side my house and keep going back and forth and like you that's exactly why I'm going to purchase a wine cooler. You can probably get a way with room temperature for some waxes but for others like Victoria waxes they melt quite easily and need to be kept at a reasonable temperature.

I actually put some of my lower end waxes on my fridge and it cracked them, i took them out of the fridge and back in the basement and after a week they looked much softer and not dried up....so I don't keep any wax in my fridge now.

Well if I get some cracking I will be sure to up the temp in my wine room. Thanks for pointing that out to me, so I can keep a eye out for it.

About the wine coolers, I think the best place to pick one up at it costco. They have some pretty nice ones that look "high end" for under $200. It looks like they car store up to 50 cans of wax, therefore they are plenty big. I should be going to costco this weekend so I will be sure to let you know what I find out, and how much they cost.

yes I agree, i'll be ordering mine from Costco as well but the one I'm thinking of can store about 125 bottles of wine and looks like a shelf with a glass door

This forum is so bad, it's good. Know what I mean? I'm just happy that my basement never gets hotter than 70F.

I hate to burst some of you guys' bubble but I'm one of the lucky few that can leave products in my garage and not have to worry about major temperature fluctuations, hehe.
