Default New to Detailing: Daily Maintenance!

Hi all! Just wanted to say hi and wanted to ask a simple question for you all!

I just got a new MS3 and started the wash/clay/wax ordeal as much as I can (clay 1-2 times a year I hear). I was wondering, for daily maintenance, what do you guys/gals do? Do you use detail spray for a nice clean look or do you just dust off with a duster or MF duster?

Any comments would help and I love this forum

I don't do anything-any time you touch your paint you risk marring it.

Just wash/dry weekly, QD after wash as needed.

I agree. I do use AW once a month after washing

Yep, once per week gentle washes does the trick. I'd avoid the daily dust-offs, just more of a chance to screw up your paint. I usually try to do something a little extra each time I wash. For example, I always do a basic wash, wheels, etc., but I'll throw an extra in such as wash engine or throw a coat of sealant on the wheels each time. This way, if you rotate this stuff, you don't have to do it all at once.

Thanks for the warnings! Definitely won't be doing that anymore (I'll just use some QD in between washes).

For sealant on wheels, what do y'all use as well? Might be a noob comment, but I use the NXT 2.0 Tech Wax on the car and next week am planning on claybar/waxing the car again including the wheels this time.

Meh, using QD in between washes on a dusty car will still risk marring the paint. I still say just wash weekly, and QD to boost slickness/gloss after washing.

If you don't want to drive around in a dusty car, Finish Kare makes a product, FK425 (generally regarded as one of the best QDs made) that has "anti-static" claims. Use it after washing to reduce dust attraction (although nothing will entirely prevent dust). Can be found at FK1usa.com

Just use whatever you are using on the paint, on your rims.

Another thought for QD: I always thought QD was best used between washing cycles, but the more I hear comments about it, the more I believe that it's best to just use post-wash and avoid when there's a good accumulation of dust/dirt that could just be cleaned off with a good wash.
