Spit shining is a technique that's been around for awhile and a slow process. Basicly, it's a way of layering cleaner wax's and such gently as to not remove the previous layer or mute it with multiple layer's of any nuba. The cold water or QD is to congeal the wax being applied meaning it stay's hard rather than soft.

I think this may be a typo - you cannot layer (spit shine) 'Cleaner' type waxes
