if not, theres your problem.

a turbo diesel with just some minor modifications such as a full exhaust, intake, and a tune can net some very substantial fuel economy, not to mention enough torque to pull a house off its foundation an enough horsepower to keep up with some fast imports and even a few muscle cars.

a taller rear end gear ratio will help in highway fuel economy as the revs will be quite low meaning less chance of a lighter load on the truck to spin the turbo into positive boost
No its gas but I can get one with a Duramax in it. I have read where modified diesels are getting better mileage than stockers. Was also considering taller gears. this thing is geared so low it will give mountain goats a run for their money on steep hills.

I started with a Caravan cargo van. Killed it. Had an Astro but wanted a little more room. My Savana has way more room and gets the same horrible mileage my Astro did. The 4.3 in the Astro was always working way to hard. Maybe a small block V8. Hmmm...

As much as I love my Tacoma with the 4.0L V6, there's no way on earth that anyone is getting 24mpg with that engine, especially fully loaded. I pull a small 5x10 enclosed trailer and get about 15.5mpg. It's only rated for 18 city / 21 hwy.

Here's an old pic of my current setup:

That is a beautiful set up.I was thinking about a set up like that but in alot of our subdivisions, I would be blocking TWO driveways with a unit that long. Is that your garage in the background that you work out of as well?

You might check into the Toyota Previa. Comfortable, reliable and pretty good for a minivan. The 94 & 95's had a supercharger as an option. The 96 & 97 had it standard. About 20 mpg city. Optional AWD is very reliable and some came with leather. All for under $5K.

Engine is mounted under the vehicle and on it's side. Access is a little tough, but with proper maintenance, they're good for 300K. When buying one, make sure he SADS shaft (accessory drive) has been properly R&R'ed.
