Default My Flex Review part deux

So the Flex was put to the final test today. Nothing tests a machine like wetsanding. For those of you who do not wetsand.... you dont know what you are missing! LOL. I hope these pics are ok. I had no stand for the light and no camera tripod! All pics were taken holding the light in one hand, the camera in the other. The last pics with the paint thickness gauge came out too dark and you could not read the disply so I brightened the display in photoshop.

Here is the side I am going to sand. Really it doesnt matter how bad the swirls are because they will come out in 15 seconds using 1500grit paper. The real challange is bringing back the shine.

Wetsanded with 1500 Grit.......

I then hit it with Menzerna SIP and an Orange pad on speed 5. I was shocked to see the results. In one pass it was near perfect! Just as quick as the rotary but the ease of use only a Random Orbital can provide, There are some permenant chips everywhere (Small spots you can see.

Added one pass of 106ff on a black pad,

Half/half, The tape was thick so there is some flaws on the first inch of the clean area to the right,

So, how much damage did this do???? NONE, (Notice the reflection of the speed limit sign!)

VERDICT

This machine is simply the best on the market. The price is high but it is worth it....... It is simply the best of both worlds.

One can actually argue it's price is not high. What costs you more in the end, $150 tool that can not do something or $270 tool that does it with ease? IMHO $150 tool costed you more because those $150 are not bringing you result, therefore they went to waste.
The UDM is a great machine, the best random orbital out there IMO but it can't compare to a forced rotation/Random Orbital.

I agree on the price, I would seriously pay $400+ for this machine after trying it. One wetsand job on a classic cars pays up tp $1K so it pays for itself after half a use.

Well I have to say that I'm not surprised. After using one I had no doubt that it would be able to hold it's own against a tough job. Chris you put the Flex to the test and I really enjoyed it. The only down side I see is that I would absolutely if something happened to my Flex. I don't think I could bear the thought of having to polish with my PC again.

One thing I did not mention is that most of the time you want to follow up the 1500 grit with 2000 or 2500 to make it easier to polish out. The Flex kicked that 1500 grits azz.

Very nice results there Chris

You can really see the difference and the wet sanding was wicked.

Very nice, the gauge looks good too.

Thank you for sharing and I look forward on getting my Flex

Ok question on ur gague. What's the Min-Max the thickness is supposed to read? And I hate you as well... now I have to think of a way to get my hands on one of those... probably keep a UDM handy as a back up.
