So I think it is time to step up to a rotary. I am looking at the Makita 9227C. What pads and backing plate do you recommend for the rotary? Currently now I use LC CCS 5.5" and will be getting 4" pads for my PC 7424.

I don't like going over 6.5" flat/CCS pads personally, I believe I've got some of the curved edge CCS pads as well which are somewhat bigger but have about the same area in contact with the paint.
I've got a couple different backing plates but this is what I use primarily: 5 - 6" Hook & Loop Rotary Flexible Backing Plate I'd like to give that 3m bp a try but I've got a nasty noise coming from one of the rollers in the timing belt circuit on my Jetta so I've got to budget for that whole ordeal. |

All I use is the 3M Backing Plate, just can't see my self using any other backing plate, I even use the smaller version of it lol any who I have several backing plates. From 2.5 to 8inches, you just can't have enough backing plates they all come in handy.
As for pads, so many pads but the Meg's pads are really good and well worth it. I gave up on the Lake Country pads with my rotary, they just didn't perform well for me ![]() Sonus pads are quite nice, I'd recommend them I also use the 3M UK pads and I'm very pleased with them. Well just my

I finally got rid of my Propels to Heath, hehe. Now I only work with the UK 3M pads, the Detailerguy/eBay pads, and the 4" Erasure (Excel Detail) pads.
I still need to get a hold of a smaller backing plate for my Metabo. Speaking of which, did you get any word as to whether the smaller UK 3M backing plates have been made without the use of the M14 adapter Carlos? |
