Default Sooo Glad I didn't Buy a UDM

I may get flamed by the UDM faithfull but the hell with it..

I am very happy with my decision to not get a UDM.. My main hesitation was buying a 1st run model from an unknown mfg..

Seems like there are quite a few people popping up with issues.

Someone that spoke to DavidB said that he was told that out nof 2,000 UDM's sold 6 of them have just stopped working.

Now that may not sound like alot to most BUT, that is an agrregate number and when you normalize it by a million you get 3,000 PPM (defective parts per million uints sold).

In the industry I work in (automotive) that is unaceptable... I can't imagine tool industry is that much different.

Holding out for spring when the snow melts... 1st full detail of 2008 WILL BE WITH A FLEX!!!

That's interesting number there Motorcity and yes I see what you mean about not being acceptable. I'm curius to see how the mf company will bounce back from it...it's easy to make a mistake but it takes quite a bit to bounce back from it.

Thanks for sharing..oh I know the car insdusty has this implimented and correct me if I'm wrong but quality control is introduced to large manufacturing companys..wonder if qulity control was thought off? Not trying to add fuel to the fire or anything like that just wondering that's all.

Aside from the problems, there doesnt even seem to be a big difference between the UDM and PC. I think the Flex and rotary is definitely where its at.

I think there is a difference between the PC and the UDM. I can actually hold and operate the PC for longer than just one minute. The UDM vibrated too much for my liking.

My UDM has no problems. I've never tried the PC, but I believe they're pretty much the same. If you have a PC, don't get the UDM

I have a PC, UDM, Rotary and Flex.

My PC I have had for 10 years, well over 200 full details on it and it works like new. The PC is great for most beginning detailers.

My UDM I have only used a bit, it does have more power less vibration and works quicker than the PC. It also allows me to break down compounds like Menzerna better.

The UDM is definitely a better machine than the PC (Functionally) but it appears we are finding out it is having reliability issues. I have sold many and so far not a single problem. It is comforting knowing customer service is good for the UDM if issues do arise.
