Default Takumi587: Review of the Flex XC3401 VRG(PartI)

(sorry no pics yet)

Alright so I will start by saying that I have used the PC 7427 and that worked as a great starter but did not correct the paint perfectly. I also have a rotary metabo and that thing can work wonders. I get perfect finishes with the rotary than any PC can do(pretty sure all of you already know that though). HOWEVER, this new machine that I have received deserves to be recognized.

I will post pics later when i get back home. But I wanted to write up my experience using it.

PRO Summary:
First off the position of the trigger, dial, and handle are all in the perfect places. I used a orange pad with menzerna 106FA on a hood of a car and the results were almost identical to my rotary metabo. BUT, it did take longer to correct any imperfections with the FLEX than the metabo. However, the thing about the metabo is that it can easily burn the paint whereas the FLEX would not. (Do not quote me on that though because the paint was warm after the area I went over.) Another great thing was the trigger. You can apply the polish around easier without turning the dial and when your ready to go full speed just pull the trigger all the way. Another great thing is that it doesn't shake ridiculously like the PC. It felt much safer to use than the PC or rotary.

Quick list of pros:
1. Dial and Trigger and handle in perfect spots
2. Wont burn paint(Not sure yet)
3. Gets results as good as a rotary
4. Trigger speed is a luxury to have
5. Does not shake like a PC
6. Safer
7. Looks Nice

CON Summary:
This thing is pretty long compared to my metabo and PC so thats the only thing that bothered me. When I would get to an angled part of a door panel the bottom part of the FLEX would be touching the panel. Plus since it requires more time to correct imperfections it is more tiring to use than the Rotary metabo. Another thing is that the paint does get warm if you do more than 3 passes on a panel at the highest speed 6.

Quick list of Cons:
1. Long and may touch parts of car while polishing at angles
2. May actually burn the paint still
3. More effort in holding it for a longer time period

Overall the pros outweigh the cons for me. Honestly the FLEX should be for people who do not know how to use a rotary. OR if you are doing a high end vehicle that requires more care--> because the rotary can burn the paint in seconds. But is it worth the $$$? I say yes it is b/c if you are ever worried about working on a car and have to work on a certain area that is difficult to work with using a rotary then this is the one to use. B/C with the rotary if you do not have the pad flat on the panel then it goes all over the place, where as this one is easier to control because of the trigger. This FLEX does correct the paint but it still requires patience and energy.

-Hope you enjoyed the read, I will be posting pics later in the week of before and afters.

I agree with P1et, great review

I always enjoy readings others point of view on tools and how they thought the machine/product performed.

Thank you for taking the time to do this review Takumi
