Default Yet Another New Flashlight

Here's a new flashlight that I put together today.

On the stand

Warming up

Full Power

You can see the intesity of the light in the reflection in the lens

Full power once again

Comparison of the color temperatures of different bulbs in the garage

I have been doing some research into the color temperature of light bulbs as related to that of natural sunlight. I picked a metal halide fixture for 2 reasons. First, it is very close the the Kelvin Degree of the sun and secondly, when one is parked under metal halide lighting at night, you can see every little defect in your paint.
I pulled my truck into the garage under this light and the results were astounding. It certainly brings out the paint defects as I had hoped it would.
Great way to see to get all of the marring out of the paint on a bad weather day.

This is only a 150 watt bulb but puts out as much light as a 500 watt bulb.
The stand I used is a professional portable stage light stand.

Is it a standard HgMi bulb? I'm trying to localize a similar bulb here in Hungary...

This bulb is 3700 Kelvin. I am looking for something in the 5000+ degree range.

It did work well at bringing out the marring in the red GTO we detailed this past weekend.

Yeah, I can attest to that!!! Did just as good, if not better than some 1000W halogens. Nice thing is, we had it out of the way and it was still great for spotting defects. With halogens, you need them a little closer up and then you start tripping over them. This thing is serious!!!
