Default Divine Detail - 2002 Toyota Rav 4

The vehicle:

2002 Toyota Rav 4

Well this is what awaited us:

Well on with the job. All floor mats were removed and the vehicle was given a full vacuum:

Once the entire vehicle had been vacuumed it was time to extract all the carpet and seats, for this a HP-60 was used, first solution was sprayed on the carpet then agitated with a carpet brush:

Same with the seats:

Once the carpets and seats had been agitated to satisfaction it was time to extract:

The entire interior was given a wipe down with a Meg’s APC solution:

With a Swissvax brush all vents were detailed:

Once the entire interior had been completed it was dressed with Optimum Protection Plus. Now that the interior had been taken care of it was time to focus on the exterior.

All the rims, tires and wheel wells were completed with P21S Wheel Gel and Amazing Roll Off, a long handle brush, EZ brush and a Swissvax brush:

Engine was rinsed and given a healthy coat of Meg’s APC:

Agitated with a Swissvax brush, once satisfied with the results it was rinsed off.

The vehicle was washed with the two bucket method:

The shampoo of choice was Zymol Clear and Zymol sponge, once the entire vehicle had been washed it was dried with a Guzzler.

Vehicle was then gauged with a PosiTector 6000:

The vehicle had plenty of clear coat for the paint correction that is to come.

Now it was time to inspect the vehicle but it was obvious the condition of the vehicle but her are some pictures with the 3M Sun Gun to help illustrate what needed correction:

The vehicle had several deep scratches.

Now it was time to choose a combo, now knowing that Toyota’s have a relative soft clear coat the following combo was used:

3M Black Polishing pad (UK version), Menzerna 85RD3.02 and Metabo at 1500RPM. This combo gave the following results on a test section:

v

As you can see this combo gave satisfying results and this was the combo utilized to the rest of the vehicle, deep scratches were not completely removed but paint correction brought the appearance of the vehicle to at least a 90% satisfaction. To reach flawless paint status on this vehicle would have taken lots of wet sanding and certain areas to be repainted, so a 90% paint correction would have to be satisfactory in this case.

Due to time restrictions not to many pictures were taken during the polishing process but the following were taken:

After:

Well it was the best that could have been done to this area as the scratches were significantly deep.

After:

Once the paint correction process had been completed it was now time to give the vehicle a final wipe down to completely remove any polish residue on the vehicle.

All exterior plastic trims were covered with Black WOW. Engine bay was dressed with 303, tires were dressed with Optimum Tire Shine, wheel wells were dressed with Optimum Protection Plus. All interior and exterior windows were finished off with Stoners and a window micro fiber towel. In addition, all floor mats were extracted agitated and extracted:

Here are some before and after of the engine bay.

The end results of the vehicle, unfortunately all pictures were taken inside as it was now dark outside:

More of the exterior:

As always feed back/questions are always welcome, hope you enjoyed the detail.
