My car needed a makeover, haven't polished it since i bought it..
The previous owner needs to learn a thing or two about washing techniques, found RDS all over the car when I started to inspect it. Tried to polish it using Optimum Compound and a wool pad, but the RDS were too deep. So I got inspired by the Meguiars wetsanding vids at youtube. My car is repainted, and there is a quite thick layer of paint. Products used: Wash: Tar remover Gritguard Chemical Guys Citrus Wash + Gloss Green Mf mitt Meguiars Waffle Weave Clay: Megs Quik Clay ONR mixed as lube Polishing/wetsanding: Optimum Compound - wool 3m Perfect It III - Fast Cut Plus - wool Menzerna 106ff - white lc pad 3m Imperial p2000 Chemical Guys Synthetic QD for wetsanding lube Lsp: Chemical Guys Ez Creme Glaze Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 The car: ![]() Started out very carefully wetsanding an old trunk lid ![]() I only had Optimum Compound available at this moment, so two passes was necessary.. Here is after one pass: ![]() After 106ff: ![]() Only did one pass with Optimum Compound, so the result after 106ff were not 100% perfect. Over to my car! ![]() ![]() At this point I learned that wetsanding at the edges, is not a good idea! Was a PITA to remove those sanding marks, afraid to cut trough the paint.. Area polished with Optimum Compound x2, and 106ff: ![]() After that result I felt way more confident, so I wetsanded the rest of the hood. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hood done: ![]() See the difference? Right panel is wetsanded, left I haven't done anything with.. ![]() Time to do the rest of the car, so I bought 3m fast cut plus ![]() Tested on the left fender first.. ![]() After fast cut plus and wool ![]() ![]() Time to do the rest of the car! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Started polishing: ![]() ![]() ![]() After 106ff ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Time for an inspection in the sun: ![]() ![]() Found only small amounts of swirls, so took a few passes with 106ff: ![]() ![]() After ez creme glaze and jetseal: ![]() ![]() Outside: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still need to polish the side skirts, the upper part of the doors (by the windows) and the roof. Thanks for looking!
