Default Combatting Break-Ins?

So last night was the 2nd time in about 6 weeks that someone waltzed up the driveway, disabled the factory car alarm, and rummaged through the interior looking for cash/easily pawned things. This time it was my girlfriend's car and they nabbed the roll of toll quarters, 25 in cash and a pair of cheap earrings. Any suggestions as to how to prevent this or are we just SOL?

The driveway is heavily illuminated with a 200W Floodlight , 4 exterior entry lights, and is plainly visible from the street (city).

Here in South Africa they dont even wait for your car to be parked. They will just rob you at the stop street by smashing your window.

I dont know, we have the car alarms, gates to the entrance, armed response, dogs.....etc.

If they want to get in, nothing is going to stop them.

Yip.. SOL

Ive been riped off a couple times.....Gotta be one of the worst feelings. Mabey an aftermarket alarm could deter them?

You might not have the time but it might be a good idea to try and stay up a few nights and see if you can catch them, you and your wife can can alternate saying up. Or if you have a camcorder hide in a place where you can direct to your car and hopefully get a visual of the person or persons.

Anyway to garage it? It seems like out of sight, out of mind with the small minded thieves.

No room to, there is off-street parking but they just hop the 8' fence. Other thing I was wondering is that if they've got the ability to crack the radio frequency for the car alarms it can't be much harder to do so with a RF garage door opener?

It's completely wireless, not many cables to run. Record the bastards!!!

P!et is correct, the only way to stop them is to catch them. We all installed car alarms factory or OTC, but they really don't stop the thieves if they want to get in.
