Default I'm simply disgusted...

Well everyone I thought I should post this because it really upsets me to see such ignorance in the world. I understand the internet is just the internet and I usually dont let things bother me for that reason. But as a few might know I am a member of the EvoM forum, and i post occasionally in the detailing section there. Eventually i landed here and I have loved it ever since. Recently I found a post about OTC products and I simply posted my opinion and thats it. Didnt offend anyone at all or anything. Well heres a link to (link removed by Nica) in case you want to read it, if not here is basically what happened, the problem starts on page 3.

Also I am bringing this up because in the post the OP I believe directly offends every member of DB and I feel offended as well.

OP
Really? The detailing community? You don't say. Search Autopia for TWPUG and see what you find. Perhaps, you could even try some, yourself, like the rest of us who feel justified in posting a personal opinion.

OP
I'm very familiar with PB Red and I like it a lot. It's a very nice beauty wax. The point of this thread is simple. Instead of asking folks to spend $22 plus shipping then wait for its arrival, and be put-off by the task and the expense, one can walk into Autozone, drop a fin and go to town with his paint. It isn't hard to name great boutique offerings, but finding competing OTC products isn't as easy. This is why this thread exists. It's here to help folks get started and to point them toward easily found products.

OP
I hope your costumers are comfortable with only 2-6 weeks of protection, depending.

OP
Personally, I think that Clay Magic offers a superior OTC clay. Have you tried any others Megs OTC products, like their Ultimate Compound, or Swirl-X, or their Ultimate Quick Detailer and Spray Wax? Perhaps you could recommend those.
I dont respond to this seeing that he is a bit immature and then he goes on to post this

Excellent suggestion, M4u. You probably read the bulk of this thread and noticed some discussion involving DG. The bulk of the discussion isn't recent and a few things happened since then. The detailing folks are broken up into several communities:

- Autopia.org is the oldest with a huge database. Many folks start there, myself included.
- TID - Truthindetailing.com is a relatively new forum sponsored by PAC with quite a few serious detailers frequenting the venue.
- MOL - Meguires. 'nuff said.
- AG - sales tool, worthless

- DetailingBliss.com - this forum attracts the younger crowd, lots of noobs who buy a rotaries and a month later call themselves pros, the philosophy of "the more it costs, the better it is" dominates. Essentially, it's the running joke of the community. This isn't to say that several notable detailers don't visit the site, but most of the discussions spew pure hilarity.

I'm bring this up, because the objections to OTC finds have been levied by DB-trained posters - haven't tried it, but it can't be any good. You see them in this thread.

For a while now, DB has been featuring a long-running Duragloss thread fueled by a few escapees from Autopia. All of a sudden, DG is OK with the noob kids, because they were told that it's good. Pathetic? Yes. Funny? Maybe. Ironic? Possibly. Learned? Not at all.
As the title of this thread says I am simply disgusted by this response and as of today other than maybe posting my work in the section. I am no longer posting anything else in that part of the forum. Like i said I feel this is personally because I may be a "noob" to this forum, but i feel like I've learned so much in the short time I've been here and I really feel that the people here are legit and are most importantly respectful. Thank you for reading guys. lets try to keep the responses mature and PG. Dont want Carlos to have a heart attack.

Complete idiot. Tell that jackass to come on here then if he's so enlightened and explain it all to us. He knocks on Duragloss and then knocks on expensive products? What is he using then? I'm almost positive that the goal of 90% of the community is to cut down costs and find something that works well in the process, which is why the Duragloss range is great. WE RUN BUSINESSES, why would you assume we purchase the most expensive stuff? That would clearly cut into our profits. You're right, I did listen to the older crowd and tried out some of their products. Now that I have EXPERIENCE with them, I know they are a great line and they are cheap. I've had Duragloss 105 beading BY ITSELF WITHOUT A CLAY OR POLISH on a 2000 Mustang for 3 months now, and it looks great on silver. I'm in the right mind to go over there and post. Please, tell him to come here. PLEASE.

Well, I can say that I use to spend time on the "A" forum but, too much crap. AG being a "Sales Tool"....well, yeah...ONLINE STORE!?!?!?!?! Obvious he has cruised the in-your-face stores. He doesn't mention the preferred vendors of the pros - at least this pro - Phil @ DD, etc.

As for his b!itching about everything else, I would wait until he can perfect his use of the English language and learns to spell before I would undertake a debate. Hard to argue with someone when you can't understand what they are saying?!?!?!?

Don't even bother to give him the time of day. If he thinks that OTC products are the best products to use let him think that, he can ruin his own car and waste his money all he wants!

And spewing off garbage about a forum community you know nothing about only makes him look like the idiot Leave him be like you already did, we'll go on knowing that we have a lot of amazing quality detailers here regardless of what some random person on another forum thinks.

I ran into the same problem on the GTO forum I frequent. I had to fight like mad to change people's minds. I posted detail pictures until people were sick of seeing my car. Even if no one wanted to hear it, I gave my opinion and then advised them of alternative products to use. Most people who are not like us will never understand buying a tire gel online. It makes no sense to them.

Big deal! It's just someones opinion, let it go. Keep in mind that there are many that only use OTC products and are extremely satisfied. They just don't see things through our eyes. My best friend loves TW Ice and I can't seem to sway him to let me give him superior products to use. We both look at his car and we each see something different. He loves the look and all I see is swirl city. We both bought new cars last year and his looks O.K. from a distance while mine looks better than when it was picked up from the dealer. To each his own.

Well you know everyone is entitled to their opinion, heck there are some members out there that say Detailing Bliss is 'miss informed' at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion. Remember the world is full of haters, bashers. I mean it's easier to criticize then to try to understand or simply try things for your self.

You know what's interesting, Detailing Bliss has a wide range of members from some members that have used the most expensive detailing products to the most inexpensive products, we all contribute to the community, we all share/express our opinions but I don't think no one here believes what I've high lighted in yellow, I don't think we are that ignorant around here I mean most of us if not all believe in don't nock it till you try it right? Well at least I do

Well to each their own, I still get a giggle giggle over 'Turtle wax' hahahahaha my dad and I used to use that every weekend when I was a kid, so I get a giggle out of it from the memory not because of the product...any who we are all free individuals we are all accountable for our actions. Thanks for sharing this, it made for a good flash back and a good laugh early in the morning
