This is a 1997 Buick that needed some major help. It had not been waxed in over 4 years and the owner could not remember the last time it was washed. I asked to detail this car because I knew it would provide me with a lot of experience that I normally would not find with any other car. It took me two weekends to complete. Here is how it went.
The first weekend. I was able to do the interior, engine and try to make progress on the rims. Interior ~ Products used were: Floex Krud Kutter Bissell pet odor and stain removal formula DP Total interior Cleaner Jax Wax Dash Vent Magic (thanks showroom shine) Stoner Invisible Glass 303 Aerospace Protectant I have to tell you the Folex is a wonderful product. I was very impressed with the results as you will soon see. It took very little scrubbing effort to remove the stains; I did let it sit overnight. Here is what the front passenger seat looked like. [ The back drivers and passengers floor. Driver’s floor A nice coffee or pop stain [The back seat [I removed all trash and placed anything I thought he might want to keep into one bag. All other trashed was tossed. I pre-treated the coffee or pop stain and driver’s side floor with Folex. Again very little scrubbing effort was done. Folex did the trick. The next morning I used my little green machine with Krud Kutter and Bissell pet odor removal. The stain is almost completely gone. Driver’s side floor Seats Before Passenger side [Driver’s side [IMG]http] After Driver’s side [IMG]httpIMG] Passenger side [The little green machine was a trooper. [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.com/I took the mats inside and washed them in the shower until the water rinsed clean. It was too cold to use the garden hose. [IMG]http://i180. [IMG]http://i180.Engine ~ Products used were: Motorvator Heavy Duty Engine Degreaser (1.50 @ Big Lots) A bucket of water ARO 10 : 1 Duragloss 265 I didn’t want to take the car to the car wash and use the pressure washer so I just took my time and used a bucket of water and an old MF. Before [IMG]http://After [IMG]http://i180.I used the little green to clean the black padding on the inside of the hood. [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.Rims ~ They were almost beyond repair. However with a lot of time and hard work I finally got them done. I first used the AIO and an old toothbrush then the clay to remove another layer and I repeated the process several times, until I gave up. The next weekend I used DG 501 and it removed the remaining baked on break dust with a little effort and a stiff brush. I did not want to use an acid based wheel cleaner because of the scratches and chips. Products used were: Klasse AIO Red Magic Clay DG 501 CG VRP [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x232/] The second weekend. I clayed the car and used my PC for the first time. I did the tail pipe and headlights too. Sorry for the poor picture quality. I stink at taking pics and it was an overcast day when all before pics were taken. Headlights I did the drivers side then I remembered to take pics. However I forgot to take a close up of the passenger’s side after. There are more headlight pics a the end. [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x232/IMG] This one caught part of the passenger side. Like I said sorry for the pic quality. [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.com/albums There is another pic of the headlights at the end. Tail Pipe 2000 grit sandpaper (I think) #0000 steel wool ARO [IMG]http://i180.photobucket.com/Exterior XMT 1 and white pad XMT 2 and green pad XMT 3 and orange pad XMT pad conditioner, but then changed to a QD 303 Finished with one coat of Klasse HGSG. Now I have to give credit to AL. I had trouble with the polish balling on me and I was just not getting the desired results I wanted in some areas. I was using the XMT 3 with the orange pad then the XMT 1 and the white pad. I sent him a PM and he was able to call me within minutes. After explaining what was happening and my fears of applying too much pressure he taught me a trick. He had me place a dot on the side of the pad with a marker. He explained as long as I could not see the dot then the pad was moving freely, therefore I was not applying too much pressure. He also had me stop using the XMT pad conditioner and start using a QD. Additionally he had me add the XMT #2 and my green pad. Well it did the trick. I had no more balling/fling/sling stuff from the polish and I felt confident I was not using too much pressure. Adding the #2 and green pad provided the desired results. He is even going to replace his calipers this weekend to take care of this brake dusting issues. He loved the lines in the carpet too. I also have to tell you he was viewing my progress online as a guest. He has loved all comments so far, especially Makdaddy and TexasTB. Last edited by Tonya : 05-15-2008 at 08:23 PM. |

I think he will now take better care of his car. I am fine with it if he doesn't but I think he just might start taking better care of it ![]() Quote:
I still have a lot to learn!! However, it was nice to be able to apply everything I have learned so far. Quote:
