There have been several times where I have tried to search something only to get this response:
The search term you specified (gun) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.
I wish this minimum could be removed.

hmm...I'll look in on that richy... ..give me a few days though I've got a few things on the go at the moment but I'll either get Mike to make the changes or I'll make the changes my self..first I need to know what the benefits of having this "minimum word length" is

For now you can just search

gun*

or *gun

depending on what you are looking for. You will get more results then you want but it is the best I can suggest for now.

I have ran into this too when searching for chemical guys stuff. Most everyone knows the acronym CG and use it when discussing chemical guys products. The keyword feature wont allow it becaues it is under 4 character so searching is not very effective when looking for all the posts that discuss them.

There are both pro's and con's about having a short search length. The con's being it will usually return a lot of things that you don't want and take longer. The pro's being it you want to seach on something the is short it will return it. I don't see a problem with allowing short search lengths especially if it is combined with a space and other letters. Something like SV Concorso or Viper ACR should definitely be allowed. Right now it would disallow the serch. If it returns to many items the user can always type something else to narrow the search.

Okay try it now, I've reduced the Search Index Minimum Word Length to 2.

Let me know if it needs adjusting.

2 should be great... We use acronyms for everything we talk about so it should help a lot...
