I like that flash on the right end I've been meaning to go pick up a flash and a new lense but haven't made up my mind on the new lense just yet.

Just curious why so many flashes Scott? Does each one serve a different purpose? Just wondering that's all. Oh why are each flash different sizes?

I just bought a 580EX II for my XT and LOVE IT. I'm using a Gary Fong Lightsphere with it and check out some of the shots I got!

I used a home made lightbox for these (more here on that...)

i use them for off camera flash. Those things on the bottom of the flashes are transmitters.

Excuse the ignorant question but what are transmitters? What do they do?

I believe they are used to synchronize the flash times. I'm not familiar with the Cannon (or non-Nikon for that matter) flash system.

The Nikon flash system has a built-in transmitter on certain camera body models and certain flash / commander models (SB800 or SU800) and receivers on all other current model flashes. So the user can have multiple flash units sitting on a stand or tripod and have control (flash timing, duration, etc) of each of them from the camera or commander / flash with the commander capability.

correct , you have a transmitter on your camera and a transmitter on every flash, and you can shoot off camera flashes wireless

huh..interesting, so you have a bunch of flashes and use them to balance the light Scott? Why not just purhcase some of those umbrela thingies (sorry don't know there real name) I know they aren't cheap though but isn't that better to balance/create the ideal lighting?
