Default How much does color effect choice?

Does the cars color effect your choice of products? If you have a white pearl car and a black non metellic car would your choice of product differ? How do you know what to choose? I would think the black you would want the wet look where the white pearl somethin with a deep gloss that makes the pearl stand out? Am I on the right track? Are there certain polishes and waxes that work better for mettallic cars? or light/dark cars?

I hope I posted this in the right section

To me the color pays a big part in the waxes and other exterior products I use. Here is a off green Buick Lacerne. Made it Shine!

I know there are alot of products that look good on darker colors like Souveran and a few other waxes. I wonder though if people put more emphasis on manufacturer paints with certain products.

Paints from different (DuPont, PPG, BASF, etc) manufacturers do not favour one wax over another; there is no factual basis for custom coloured waxes with pigment dyes to mach original paint, the clear coat is applied for both protection of the colour coat and to give it depth, while allowing the paint colour to show through, some marques clear coat paints vary i.e. some are softer/ thinner etc. If you apply a non-clear wax or sealant, or a custom coloured wax it will only mute the paints colour and depth of shine

I will concede however that some waxes / sealants look better on some colour paints than others; this however is very subjective and sometimes even borders on an emotive response

Table VIII Recommended Products for various Paint Colours

Sorry this table is not clear, I have no idea how to insert a table into text other than with Microsoft

Color effects my choice
Solid blacks get Prima Amigo after 106 or RD Menzerna

Best I've gotten from clearcoated reds is Prima Swirl and 85RD finishing polish
