I am looking at investing in a paint thickness gauge however i have a budget about 300 to spend. I was looking to see if anyone has any recommendations on any gauges or should i just save my money and wait until i can afford a higher end gauge?

If this is your full time job, I recommend getting a hold of Phil (@detailersdomain) and purchasing a Delfesko unit. If you are a part-time/hobbyist detailer, you should be ok with the ones sold on ebay for $130-150. They work ok for enthusiasts, but I rather have one that reads all the different layers and plastic when doing this full time on vehicles.

I have a defelsko DFT combo for sale, personally it's the best budget eclometer you can buy. I just want to upgrade now that things are picking up.

The more you charge for details, the better gauge you should be buying. I haven't had to use anything but my HighLine meter I bought for $200... which is more than the average cost of a detail I do, unfortunately.
